Retinal care & diabetic eye care
We provide the latest laser and injection techniques for the treatment of retinal diseases related to diabetes and other conditions, aiming to preserve vision and prevent complications .
What is the Retina ?
The retina is the light-sensitive membrane at the back of the eye. It is responsible for transmitting images to the brain through the optic nerve. Any disorder affecting it may lead to vision impairment or permanent blindness if not treated in time.
The main retinal diseases we treat :
-
Diabetic Retinopathy
One of the most common complications of diabetes, caused by damage to the tiny blood vessels of the retina.
✳️ In early stages, it may not cause obvious symptoms.
✳️ In advanced stages, it may lead to bleeding, fibrosis, or retinal detachment.
-
Macular Hole
A small break in the central retina (macula) causing distorted or severely impaired central vision.
-
Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
A disease affecting older adults that impairs central vision, making reading and fine detail difficult.
-
Retinal Detachment
An emergency condition where the retina separates from the back wall of the eye, requiring immediate treatment to prevent permanent vision loss.
-
Inherited Retinal Diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa
Gradually cause night vision problems and loss of peripheral vision.
Symptoms that require urgent examination :
-
Blurred or hazy vision
-
Black spots (floaters) or flashing lights
-
Sudden loss of part of the visual field
-
Distorted vision of lines or details
Note: Many retinal diseases do not cause pain… but their effect on vision may be permanent if not detected early.
Available treatment options :
1 – Intravitreal Injections
-
For diseases such as diabetes and wet AMD (Anti-VEGF) : Examples: Avastin – Lucentis – Eylea
-
Corticosteroids depending on the case
2 – Retinal Laser Photocoagulation
To stop bleeding of retinal vessels or prevent progression of diabetic retinopathy.
3 – Vitrectomy (Retinal Microsurgery)
For advanced cases such as :
-
Chronic vitreous hemorrhage
-
Retinal detachment
-
Removal of membranes over the macula
4 – Regular follow-up for diabetic patients
We provide continuous monitoring with OCT imaging and fundus examination to prevent complications.
